Hello and welcome to the 1st grade!
My name is Ashley Sala and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year at Carpenter Elementary. I was born outside of Chicago, but grew up in Pinckney, Michigan. I love the lake life. I received my undergraduate degree from Michigan State University where I majored in English and Creative Writing. I am a cohort of University of Michigan’s teaching program. This past summer, I fell in love with the
community at Camp Grizzly in Ypsilanti. This year is particularly special for me because, although I have been a guest teacher in Washtenaw and Livingston counties for 10 years, this will be my first year teaching a classroom all my own. I am thrilled to have been welcomed into the Carpenter family. I have a son, Aiden, who is also starting first-grade this year. Together we care for our pet birds, fish, and Dalmatian- Heeler. I enjoy paddle boarding, reading, puzzles, and trivia. My classroom will offer a safe and engaging learning environment where I will be able to support your child each day. This is going to be a fun, exciting year. I cannot wait to meet your child and start our adventure together. Go Cougars!
